Kakao’s recently-launched Klaytn blockchain network is up to 15 times faster than ethereum, the South Korean messaging app company has claimed.
During a press conference in Seoul, Ground X, the Kakao subsidiary behind Klaytn’s development, revealed that it takes Klaytn only one second to mine a block, whereas it takes ethereum around 15 seconds.
“I believe it would be the initial version of a mobile [blockchain] service,” said Ground X CEO Han Jae-sun. “With the reduced response time, many projects that we believed unfathomable could eventually come true.”
Klaytn’s mainnet launch commenced on June 27 alongside the announcement of several projects currently being developed for the blockchain network. These projects are expected to launch by the end of this month.
