Bitcoin Soars to New All-Time Highs; Exchange Prices Vary

The market data shows that as the price of cryptocurrency soars to new all-time highs, the world’s largest bitcoin exchanges have been reporting significantly varying prices. The differences could even amount to $2,000 in value among some of the largest exchanges.

On the GDAX exchange of Coinbase, for example, bitcoin trades above $18,259 on December 7, 2017 – a significant premium over $15,592, the price reported on Bitfinex.

It is also considerably less than the current price on South Korea’s largest exchange, Bithumb, and local exchanges Coinone and Korbit which are seeing prices higher than $19,000 in the country’s national currency, the Korean won.

CoinMarketCap data also shows price disparities, however, a number of top ten exchanges are priced below $16,000 including Bitstamp, Gemini, and HitBTC.

And Coinbase isn’t the only one listing bitcoin at above $16,000. Even Japan-based bitFlyer reports bitcoin prices sitting at $16,719.40 as of December 7 and Bimex trades roughly at around $17,200.

As bitcoin’s value surges, prices continue to change. The price of bitcoin added more than $2,700 since the start of the session.
